Your trip in a nutshell
Itinerary
Day - 1
Puri: The Peace Route to the Coast
Your Odisha odyssey begins at Bhubaneswar Airport. We whisk you toward the coast, pausing first at Dhauli, where Emperor Ashoka swapped the sword for peace, marked by the serene Shanti Stupa. Next, walk through the vibrant corridor of Pipili, a town draped in colorful Chandua appliqué handicrafts. Arrive in Puri and unwind on the Golden Beach, a Blue Flag certified stretch of eco-friendly sands perfect for a twilight stroll by the Bay of Bengal.
Day - 2
Konark: Sun Chariots & Sacred Spires
Begin with a sunrise darshan at the sacred Jagannath Temple (Hindus only), a pillar of the Char Dham pilgrimage. The afternoon belongs to stone poetry at Konark. Witness the UNESCO World Heritage Sun Temple, a colossal stone chariot with 24 intricate wheels frozen in time. Visit the quiet Ramachandi Temple and the sweeping Chandrabhaga Beach. If time allows, admire the fleeting beauty of the Sand Art Museum before returning to your seaside retreat.
Day - 3
Gopalpur: Lagoons & Colonial Shores
We trade the open sea for the calm waters of Chilika Lake, Asia's largest brackish lagoon. At Barkul, board a boat to visit the island shrine of Kalijai Temple, surrounded by shimmering waters and migratory birds. Continue the drive south to the colonial beach town of Gopalpur-on-Sea. Check into your hotel and spend the rest of the day soaking in the old-world charm and the rhythmic crash of waves on this tranquil coastline.
Day - 4
Gopalpur: Hot Springs & Little Tibet
Today offers a unique blend of nature and spirituality. Venture inland to Taptapani, famous for its medicinal hot sulfur springs nestled in lush forests. Continue to Chandragiri, a "Mini Tibet" in Odisha. Here, the Padmasambhava Mahavihara Monastery stands tall with vibrant prayer flags and traditional architecture, offering a peaceful sanctuary. Return to Gopalpur in the evening, enriched by the serene landscapes of the Eastern Ghats.
Day - 5
Bhubaneswar: Shakti Peeths & Ancient Caves
Watch the sunrise over the ocean before driving back to the capital. Ascend the Kumari hills via ropeway to worship at the Tara Tarini Shakti Peeth, a revered tantric center offering panoramic views. En route, visit the Narayani Temple. Upon reaching Bhubaneswar, step back into the 2nd century BCE at the Khandagiri and Udayagiri Caves, the ancient rock-cut dormitories of Jain monks. The evening is yours to explore local markets for souvenirs.
Day - 6
Departure: The Temple City Tour
Conclude your journey in the "Temple City." We weave through centuries of Kalinga architecture, visiting the massive Lingaraj Temple (view from outside for non-Hindus), the intricate Mukteshwar Temple with its famous stone arch, and the ancient Parshurameshwar Temple. Admire the sculptural beauty of the Rajarani Temple, known as the "Love Temple." We then transfer you to the airport, leaving you with a treasure trove of cultural memories.
