Day - 1
Colombo: Colonial Forts and City Lights
We arrive in Colombo and transfer to the hotel. Our exploration begins with the city's rich history, from the Portuguese and Dutch remnants in Fort and Pettah to the British administrative centers. We walk Sea Street, famous for its goldsmiths, and visit the vibrant bazaar. Key stops include the historic Wolvendaal Church, the Kelaniya Buddhist Temple, and the Davatagaha Mosque. We also see the Independence Square and the BMICH before concluding with a city tour in the evening.
Day - 2
Kandy: Sacred Relics and Elephant Orphanage
We depart for Kandy, stopping en route at the Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage to see the herd bathing in the river. Upon reaching Kandy, the last royal capital, we visit the Royal Botanical Gardens in Peradeniya to walk its famous palm avenues. The day's highlight is the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic, Sri Lanka's most prized Buddhist site. We soak in the cultural atmosphere of this World Heritage city before dinner.
Day - 3
Nuwara Eliya: Tea Gardens and Little England
We travel to the cool climes of Nuwara Eliya, often called "Little England" for its colonial cottages and gardens. Along the way, we visit the cascading Ramboda Falls and tour a Tea Factory to learn about the leaf-to-cup process. In the evening, we visit the Seetha Amman Temple and relax by Gregory Lake, enjoying the serene atmosphere of the hill country.
Day - 4
Ella Excursion: Caves, Bridges, and Waterfalls
We take a day trip to Ella, famous for its stunning views. We visit the legendary Ravana Falls and explore the nearby Ravana Caves, linked to the Ramayana epic. We marvel at the architectural beauty of the Nine Arch Bridge set amidst dense jungle. After exploring the charming town of Ella, we return to Nuwara Eliya for the night.
Day - 5
Bentota: Waterfalls and Coastal Drive
We drive to the coastal resort of Bentota, passing through Kithulgala. En route, we admire the majestic St. Clair’s Falls, known as the "Little Niagara of Sri Lanka," and the towering Devon Falls. Arriving in Bentota, we check into our beachside hotel and spend the evening relaxing by the Indian Ocean.
Day - 6
Bentota: Turtles, Mangroves, and Water Sports
We explore Bentota’s natural wonders, starting with a visit to a Turtle Hatchery to see conservation efforts in action. We then take a boat ride through the tangled mangroves of the Madu River. The rest of the day is yours to enjoy the beach or try optional water sports like jet-skiing and windsurfing on the lagoon.
